About me
I was born and raised in Hertfordshire & showed a talent for Art at an early age. After winning various school Art prizes, and achieving grade A at GCSE, and a grade A in ‘Fine Art’ at A level, I had a break from art to pursue an alternative career. In 1995 I chose to resume my artistic talents, and became a successful portrait artist, alongside my main career, earning a strong reputation and quite a demand, (purely on the strength of my work).
In 2004 I won First Prize in the Luton Museum & Gallery Art Competition, open to Professional & Amateur Artists resident in Herts, Beds, & Bucks, with one of my dog portrait commissions. The panel of judges were established professionals from the Art Industry, including the sponsor, Daler Rowney. Their comments on the winning piece were: “A very appealing piece of work: sensitive, technically accomplished, but still holding a sense of spontaneity. It was also beautifully presented.“
2004 was my first and only year of entry.
In 2005 I moved to Cambridgeshire.
I now have 2 young children, so my studio time is more precious. My desire to paint got the better of me, and I found greater satisfaction in producing a variety of work, as this maximised my creativeness and imagination.
I chose to pursue the route of Modern Art, following a successful commission from a major bank for contemporary paintings for all their meeting rooms & board rooms.
My inspiration is gathered from many things in everyday life, from colours & patterns, to beautiful scenes, the effect of light, and feelings and emotions. Experience has taught me to never forget my camera when I go out!
